More than 13,000 donors to Save Red wolves successfully raised $2 million for a match challenge to build wildlife crossings in red wolf territory in North Carolina.
In May, an anonymous donor issued a $2 million match challenge to build wildlife crossings across Highway 64, a highway that runs through the heart of red wolf country. For the past seven months, we have focused on fundraising $2 million to meet the match. We eclipsed the $2 million mark on December 17. Thank you immensely!
These funds will go directly to building 13 wildlife underpasses along Highway 64 in the red wolf refuges of eastern North Carolina. Facing will also accompany the crossings to guide wildlife to safe passage across Highway 64.
“Wildlife crossings are the most important action we can take right now to save red wolves from extinction,” said Will Harlan, Southeast Director at the Center for Biological Diversity. “I’m immensely grateful to all the amazing supporters who are making this happen.”
